Jon Osborne, IDSA  is an award-winning industrial designer with over 15 years of experience in product design, product development, and product program management. His career spans a wide range of consumer and commercial industries, with expertise in everything from small-scale ventures to global mass manufacturing, e-commerce, and brick-and-mortar retail environments.

Throughout his career, Jon has worked and consulted for some of the world’s most recognized public and private-label brands, including Office Depot, Motorola and Jarden Consumer Solutions. His deep passion for innovation and design has led to a robust, interdisciplinary skill set and positioned him as a leader in both creative management and business strategy.

Jon approaches product design through a solution-based, holistic methodology treating the entire product development process as an interconnected ecosystem. He believes that exceptional design encompasses a well-considered solution, an intuitive user interface and experience, and a fiscally responsible design-for-manufacturing (DFM) strategy.

​

His experience in research and development has taught him the importance of planning and integrating every phase of the product development cycle. Neglecting any part of the process can lead to cost overruns, strained vendor relationships, and ultimately, flawed or failed products. Jon’s disciplined approach enables him to push boundaries using advanced technologies and cutting-edge manufacturing methods, including additive and generative 3D printing, advanced injection molding, color/material/finish (CMF) techniques, and virtual reality (VR) development.

An active entrepreneur, Jon contributes his expertise to a number of emerging businesses and startups, as well as providing consultation to major proprietary software firms in support of their product design and engineering R&D efforts. His input plays a role in shaping the next generation of product development software.

Jon is currently the founder and principal of Aurora Product Development LLC, a premier product development consultancy based in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Aurora specializes in end-to-end product strategy and execution, integrating disciplines such as market research, industrial design, mechanical engineering, rapid prototyping, software development, sourcing, and manufacturing a comprehensive 360-degree approach built on Jon’s extensive experience.

Beyond product development, Jon is also an avid photographer. His love for cinema, film, and visual storytelling has translated into a creative exploration of light, color, motion, and emotion. He often merges his passions for photography and industrial design to craft immersive, human centered experiences from natural landscapes to industrial products.
